University of Portsmouth Degree Calculator

Portsmouth works out your class two ways and gives you the better one: a 40:60 blend of Levels 5 and 6, or Level 6 on its own. The worst 20 credits at each level are dropped, and your final-year project counts double.

Indicative only. This mirrors the University's method (Board of Examiners set the official result). Enter your module marks as percentages. It assumes standard 20-credit modules and a 40-credit final-year project; a move to 30-credit modules is phasing in from Sept 2026. Rule C was removed from the regulations in 2025, so only the two rules below apply.
Level 5 modules
Usually six 20-credit modules (120 credits). Enter each mark; the worst 20 credits are discounted.
Level 6 (final year) taught modules
Usually four 20-credit taught modules, plus your project below.
Final-year project
Project mark40 credits — counts double at Level 6

Saved automatically in your browser only. Method follows the University of Portsmouth Assessment Regulations (Board of Examiners) as implemented in the School of Computing's degree calculator: Rule A = weighted mean of Level 5 and Level 6 at 40:60; Rule B = mean of Level 6 alone; in both, the worst 20 credits at each level are discounted and the final-year project (40 credits) counts double; your class is the better of the two. The indicative GPA uses Portsmouth's own scale (maximum 4.25). This is a planning tool, not an official result.
